The Poisoned Apple

WitchApple

Just as I would no longer put anything on my baby (or my pregnant self), that I haven’t checked via the Skin Deep database, nor would I puree a fruit or veg for my baby that I hadn’t checked on the Pesticide Action Network database – (if not just to justify my organic fruit and veg bill).

Also, if I child has to drink fruit juice (grumble, grumble), parents should keep in mind that non-organic juice has an ingredient not required on the label: yummy, delicious pesticides.

From the PANs’ new “What’s On My Food” database:

“What’s On My Food?is a searchable database designed to make the public problem of pesticide exposure visible and more understandable.

How does this tool work? We link pesticide food residue data with the toxicology for each chemical, making this information easily searchable for the first time.”

As an example of how easy the information is to read and understand, here is a partial result for “Apple Juice“:

I realize that organic food is more expensive, but this New York Times article is one of many that explains how children who eat organic produce, predictably, have far less pesticides in their little bodies – pesticides that are linked to everything from childhood cancer to asthma. pesticides are just evil and need to be avoided. Full stop.

To join the fight against the pesticides that are poisoning our children, pets, selves and planet – please consider sending an email or two to your legislators. Learn more: PANNA
