Laura Got It Wright

My day began very, very well. Laura Hooper, calligrapher extraordinaire, sent me my eagerly anticipated baby announcement envelopes – and though I had seen her work in Martha Stewart Weddings, numerous other wedding magazines and various style blogs – I was GOBSMACKED and delighted to tears— they are – quite simply, perfect. Seriously. Perfect.
The envelopes arrived gorgeously wrapped (apologies, my photography does not do her wrapping, or calligraphy, justice)…

…and then – after tearing into that stunning paper…

and…

Again. Please go to her site to see photos worthy of her work (mine are not).

The announcement of a child, to me, is far more important than, let’s say, a wedding – when people traditionaly buck up the quid for calligraphy. Honestly, you can always have another wedding (I know, I’ve had two), but your CHILD….!
Pricing, you ask? Excellent. Don’t let perfection scare you. Laura had three tiers of calligraphy to choose from, all cheaper than a proper night out. It was worth a whole weekend away, if you ask me.
Forgo the toxic Diaper Genie, and call Laura. Your baby deserves it.
Thank you, Laura.
Well bloody done.
*Update.
Vintage stamps are a bit like recycling…

And using vintage papers, from old school posters or books, adds a nice touch to your baby announcements…

…and now I await the ACTUAL announcement…just 8 weeks left….
