Never Cheat with a Crib Sheet
Beautiful organic crib sheets are as rare as passionate Norwegians. And the few that do exist tend to be terribly modern or soporifically simple. Neither of these options would suit my Lilly P. clad, Tori Burch shod Junior League cousin-in-law in the South who sees the world in pink and kelly green. This post is for her.
Cottage Belles, on Etsy, has the single most beautiful collection (all custom, my dear) of organic crib bedding for Steel Magnolias, that I have seen this side of the Mississippi. But, of course, it’s actually all made in Texas – which makes total and utter sense.
I mean, look at that crib! Any self respecting Vineyard Vine wearing, Topsider shod dad would be happy to lift is heir out of such a beautifully dressed cocoon! Is there anything sweeter than Gingham? Exactly.
And any DAR mama-in-law would positively beam, why, yes she would, at the photos of her little pickle on such darlin’ sheets. One does show these photos at the Club, remember.
And even Yankee mamas, a few at least, will appreciate Cottage Belles heavenly bedding – especially if she appreciates monograms, linen napkins and sweet tea. Yes. Even some Yankees balk at the the horror of orange circles on sheets attempting to pass as appropriate for baby linens.
I’m absolutely besotted with this bedding. And I know that my cousin-in-law will just swoon, (in a delicate debutante manner), when I show her the Cottage Belles collection.
Ya’ll come back now….

The Tipping Point
When Pottery Barn has as many organic crib bedding choices as it does – it’s official: Organic is here to stay.
I used to not buy friends shower gifts from Pottery Barn, as they didn’t used to have any green choices – but now…
…not only do they have a very large selection of organic baby bedding – it’s all ADORABLE!
Someone at Corporate was clever enough to listen to green mums…
…and I hope that the sales are strong enough to encourage them to offer even more selections! Because if Pottery Barn does it, then all the other home retailers will have to up their green game as well.
You can even buy an organic bassinet at Pottery Barn.
The times, they are a changin’.
And it’s fabulous.

Pom Pom Girl
I love linen. I still have many of my great grandmother’s and grandmother’s linen towels, napkins and sheets – and though soft as silk, they still have that slight wrinkle that even the best ironed linen gets. It’s timeless, classic and yet not “fussy” (if a few wrinkles don’t bother you.)
Pom Pom At Home has an exquisite set of organic linen bed clothes worthy of a Royal. They are too beautiful, and I want the adult sized version immediately. These are verily and truly sheets that your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can save in their trousseau’s. I can’t think that anyone will ever trump these (organic) sheets as they are perfect.
Minimal enough for a modern nursery, and yet timeless enough for a traditional one – the only nursery they won’t suit is a cartoonish one.
And the more you wash linen, the more fabulous it becomes!
These Pom Pom sheets are perhaps slightly feminine, but with a masculine enough nursery, I can’t see how they couldn’t work in a boy’s room.
I tres heart these, and wish I had seen them before my own son was born.
Three cheers for Pom Pom!!!

Scandinavian Fashion
Featuring unique Scandinavian organic brands like Brokiga (above)…
Floppy Buddha (honestly, are Pandas not the cutest thing ever)…
Lille Barn (which I can tell will be one of my new favourite brands)….
Poppy Rose, (a must for the sartorial son who will look very “shooting party” in these togs)…
…and Esencia, among others – Little Scandinavian is my new first go-to fashion blog. Those Scandies are all about “natural” and great design, so I have them bookmarked in my Top 10 Blog Faves.
The only frustrating thing is that many of the featured brands are only available from the EU.
But maybe you have an aunt in Helsinki?!
Farvel!

It’s Only (organic) Rock n Roll, But I Like It….
As unbelievable as it seems, this Rock n Roll crib set is, according to Lambs & Ivy, the company that makes it, %100 organic.
I am glad to see organic sets move beyond “earthy” themes, so that a wider demographic will be able to mitigate their kids chemical exposure as well.
Drum set sold separately.

Some Like it Hot
Do you put Tabasco on your egg’s? Do you know who Tony Lama is? Were you born in Texas?
Then honey chile’, you will LOVE these Chili Pepper crib sheets from Green Babies. This adorable site has several sets of organic crib sheets that I have yet to see anywhere else.
How sweet are these dragonflys?
And these slippery and slow snails…
I tip my cowgirl hat to ‘em. Yes’m, I do.
Happy Monday!

Never a Wet Blanket

Organic Blankees is a beautiful store that makes monogrammed organic blankets. Perfect for anyone who loves Kelly Green, Scottie dogs, or grew up in a house where at least one sofa was from Horchow (you know who you are).

These classic blankets are perfect for the parents that plan to baptize baby in Newport or on Martha’s Vineyard, where they have an aunt that can have an entire conversation without moving her lips. She was a Wellesley girl, you know. Oh, do be a dear and get us a martini.

Your friend that will name her son with something that ends in “the third”, or her daughter Grace, Poppy or Sloane - will treasure this monogrammed binky forever, and will be sure to have it stored carefully away when the little one is old enough for sear sucker.
Give an Organic Blankee and you’ll have a fountain penned, Mrs. John L. Strong “Thank You” note within the week. (You know how precious those are now…. Dreadful, dreadful. Mother is still beside herself.) Honestly, it’s worth it if just to receive the vintage note.
Well done, old thing.
