Winter Wonderland
The curiously named Winter Water Factory has lovely organic togs for the mum who likes that color + print Scandinavian look. Though I am not usually a fan of either – (except for a soft and pale Liberty print), I thought that these were just bright enough to be happy – rather than blinding.
And for the boys…
Is there a boy who doesn’t love heavy moving equipment?
Or…
This last one is very pen and ink, no?
Winter Water Factory also makes sheets and clothes for bigger boys and girls. The former available at The Land of Nod.
************
Speaking of The Land of Nod, I recently realized that not many people know the poem – though the original reference is Biblical. It’s really lovely – so if you’ll indulge me, I’ll post it here.

Jenny Has Your Number
Though a bit colourful for me, Jenny McCarthy has developed a madly affordable line of organic bedding that puts green sheets within every mamas grasp.
NINE piece bedding for under $180! That’s just crazy is what that is.
With matching blankets and rugs, you can’t go wrong. Unless, of course, you are like me and prefer various shades of beige.
Is there anything Jenny can’t do, I wonder….

The Tipping Point
When Pottery Barn has as many organic crib bedding choices as it does – it’s official: Organic is here to stay.
I used to not buy friends shower gifts from Pottery Barn, as they didn’t used to have any green choices – but now…
…not only do they have a very large selection of organic baby bedding – it’s all ADORABLE!
Someone at Corporate was clever enough to listen to green mums…
…and I hope that the sales are strong enough to encourage them to offer even more selections! Because if Pottery Barn does it, then all the other home retailers will have to up their green game as well.
You can even buy an organic bassinet at Pottery Barn.
The times, they are a changin’.
And it’s fabulous.

Pom Pom Girl
I love linen. I still have many of my great grandmother’s and grandmother’s linen towels, napkins and sheets – and though soft as silk, they still have that slight wrinkle that even the best ironed linen gets. It’s timeless, classic and yet not “fussy” (if a few wrinkles don’t bother you.)
Pom Pom At Home has an exquisite set of organic linen bed clothes worthy of a Royal. They are too beautiful, and I want the adult sized version immediately. These are verily and truly sheets that your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can save in their trousseau’s. I can’t think that anyone will ever trump these (organic) sheets as they are perfect.
Minimal enough for a modern nursery, and yet timeless enough for a traditional one – the only nursery they won’t suit is a cartoonish one.
And the more you wash linen, the more fabulous it becomes!
These Pom Pom sheets are perhaps slightly feminine, but with a masculine enough nursery, I can’t see how they couldn’t work in a boy’s room.
I tres heart these, and wish I had seen them before my own son was born.
Three cheers for Pom Pom!!!

I’m Coo Coo for KuKuNest
As a child I had Snoopy sheets. And towels. And a Snoopy dress with MATCHING socks, if you can believe it. And I’m not even Japanese! (If you have ever been to Japan, that will make sense. Snoopy love lives on, undiminished, on that fair isle.)
And as it was then the 70′s, I am sure that my beloved Snoopy sheets were positively doused in flame retardants and heavens knows what else. But, in addition to “organic”, we now have Öko-Tex 100 certified bedding, that we can rest easy knowing our children are sleeping on. As a refresher:
“Öko-Tex is a textile certification standard developed in Europe during the 1990s in response to dangerously high levels of toxic chemicals found in consumer bedding. The goals of the Öko-tex standard are simple: ensure that 100 of the most common harmful chemicals either are not present in the fabric, or at ultra low levels that European scientists have determined to be negligible to human health. Chemicals tested for include: lead, mercury, pesticides, phthalates, flame retardants, plus many others.”
KukuNest makes darling toddler bed sets, (that are Öko-Tex 100 certified), that are bright and happy without being too “cartoonish”.
Except for “Jungle” or sports (blech) – KuKuNest seems to have a set for the most popular themes of toddler rooms.
The Asian sets even have matching wall stickers to pull the look together!
So much nicer than Snoopy sheets…
Safe toddler bedding is just as important as it was for your infant – as there are 8+ hours of dermal and inhalation time with sheets. They really need to be organic or Öko-tex standard certified. Wrapped around that organic mattress, at least you know that your child is safest for the 1/3rd of his life that he spends dreaming. More, if you’re lucky.
Sweet Dreams!

To sleep…
Though my sons Moses basket was beautiful, the handles frayed and tore early – leaving me with no choice but to not recommend a woven Moses basket to new mums. (How the real Moses ever made it safely down the Nile in one of these is the true miracle.)
Over at Petit Tresor, they have two wonderful Moses baskets that are organic, and far sturdier looking, available in both pink and blue.
and…
After your little one has outgrown one of these, they are perfect little baby storage baskets for the back of your car.
Petit Tresor also has a lovely collection of classic organic baby bedding, for those who will never visit the MOMA or Tate Modern.
…and in the requisite pink…
…plus, for your petit lapin…
…or growly little bear…
Petit Tresor has a registry, so pick and click to your hearts content.
Au revoir!

Early to Bed….

No doubt you bought an organic mattress and sheets as soon as you found out Junior was on his way (all that nasty formaldehyde and flame retardant are a thing of nightmares). The sheets were probably cotton as you hadn’t many sheckles left after forking out the coin for the mattress.
But it’s almost Valentines Day, and lets face it. White cotton sheets aren’t really the stuff of Henry Miller….
Whats a verdant vixen to do?
Anna Sova has a stunning collection of organic cotton and silk sheets that are worthy of the Great Bed of Ware. Honestly, you’ll fall in love with her sumptuous silks that will make the few hours you get to sleep, decadent.
And mama, you deserve decadent.
(What better place to try out your new Eco-Boudoir underfrillys?!)
Happy Valentines Day week x

Three Sheets…
Joy! Three new organic toddler sheet sets! I know that we are all familiar with the few organic sheet set designs that are out there – so it’s surprisingly exciting to see that Oompa has 3 new designs that I hope you haven’t seen.
In addition to the airplane sheets above…

there are these sweet butterfly sheets.
And for the cheeky monkey in your life….

All three sets are chemical free and made from 100% fair labor Certified Organic Cotton, utilizing safe water based-dyes.
Sweet dreams.
